Intramural Coaches Information Sheet
1.Coach’s responsibilities
Commitment to coaching for the 2007 season.
Responsible for all children on your team. The coach should be at the practice field 15 minutes prior to practice and should remain with all players until they are picked up from practice.
Know and follow all rules of the PSC. All coaches must be certified and attend the training clinics. Each team must have a team parent attend the parents association meeting. Distribute the PSC Zero Tolerance Policy to every parent. Parents must sign the Parental Code of Ethics. Please give the signed Code of Ethics forms to your Division Director prior to the first game.
All medical releases must be filled out by all parents and kept in the possession of the coach at each game and practice. The first aid kit and the availability of a cell phone should also be at all practices and games.
Report all injuries immediately to your Division Director and fill out an injury report form.
Division Director must approve all roster additions and deletions.
All players must have the proper equipment to participate; shin guards are mandatory. Cleats or sneakers may be worn.
Be a role model. Encourage fair play and good sportsmanship.
Please volunteer to help us during our Parsippany Pride Invitational Tournament on October 10-12, 2003. There will not be any intramural games scheduled and we need your help.
2. Games
All games must be played as scheduled.
The Division Director will notify you if games are canceled due to weather.
Contact you Division Director and Director of Referees as soon as possible if a game must be rescheduled or is canceled for reasons other than weather. All rescheduled games bust be approved by your Division Director.
Any problems before, during, or after a game by a player, parent, or spectator must be brought to the attention of your Division Director.
An Evaluation Committee is in place to police the activities of the Club. This committee will address any infraction by a coach, player, or spectator. The PSC has a zero tolerance policy.
3. Referees Club referees will be provided for Divisions 3, 4, 5, & 6.
Coaches or parents will be used to referee Division 7 games.
Referees are in charge of the game and their decisions will be final.
Abuse of any referee by coaches, players or spectators will not be tolerated.
4. Equipment
Please walk the field before a game or practice to make sure it is in safe condition. Each goal should be anchored safely to the ground.
Assist in putting up and taking down nets and corner flags. Division Directors will instruct the proper procedure for each division.
At the end of the season, goalie shirts are to be returned to the Division Director.
5. Tournaments An Intramural Tournament will be held October 27, 28, & 29, 2006 for Divisions IV, V, VI.
The Parsippany Pride Invitational will be held October 7, 8 &9, 2007 for all travel teams. There will not be any intramural games scheduled that weekend. Volunteering during the Pride Tournament is a responsibility for all coaches of the Parsippany Soccer Club.
6. Division 3 Boys and Girls Division 3 boys and girls will play competitively with teams from Mountain Lakes. Standings will be kept and playoffs will be held at the end of the season.
7. Clinics Any coach working with players on the field must be certified. There will be a NYSCA certification course held, Thursday, August 19 at 6:30 PM at Parsippany High School. Coaches must get recertified every 3 years.
There will be an F License course held at Parsippany High School on Friday, July 30 at 6:00 PM and Saturday morning, July 31 at 8:00 AM.. This is a state licensed 9-hour course. Attendance at both sessions is mandatory. Contact Gene Listwan if interested in attending.
The PSC will offer 4 training sessions during the season for every intramural team. Coaches should have their team attend each session.
8. Volunteers Volunteers are a big part of our organization. Solicit help from parents to assist:
As team parent to make phone calls, distribute information, etc.
Cleaning up the fields after a game or practice
Parents are needed to help with our tournaments, fundraising, committees, etc.
9. Opening Day Ceremonies All teams must participate in uniform on Saturday, September 15 at Veterans Memorial Park. Ceremonies start at 9:30 am and parents should start arriving at 9:00 am.
10. Pictures Pictures will be taken on Saturday, September 29 at Veterans, RAIN OR SHINE. Each team will be assigned a time on opening day and receive their picture packets.
